I have coached boys soccer at all three levels in my 22 years here at TPHS as I now enter Year One as Head Varsity Coach. I served Six years as JV Coach, four years as Asst. Varsity Coach and ten years as Freshmen Coach. Having played as a youth growing up, representing my High School as a student was one of the highlights of my High School experience. My goal is that every player playing for Torrey Pines High School has the same experience. As a High School teacher on campus I recognize the importance of being a student-athlete and I regularly emphasize that to our student body as we see each other on campus regularly. The Goal for every season is to win it all regardless of what level, and only together will we accomplish this! It is the Way…Go Falcons!!!
Been playing soccer since I was 5 years old, where I started playing in recreation, then moving to club circuit, guest playing with other club teams, before trying out and making the San Diego Select team, and got an opportunity to play ODP at 16. Got an opportunity to play soccer in college in the midwest, for a short season before coming back to finish my studies at Humboldt State. After that, I started spending my time, volunteering, learning the ins and outs of coaching the game.. I was involved with some local high school teams in the Escondido area, parts of the San Diego Area, and Northern Ca. coaching JV/ Varsity level for boys/girls. In my off season, I volunteered my time in the rec leagues and club teams, to teach the fundamentals of soccer, helping young players reach the next level..
All my experiences learning, studying, and coaching at different levels have made me into a well rounded coach, for the last 20 years. Being part of this program is an honor and a privilege to be part of the dynasty of talent at TPHS.. My philosophy about coaching is, “not how good you are, but how good you could be.” If you work hard and demonstrate, you will strive for excellence..
I started my soccer career in recreation as a youth, and then progressed to playing club in east county with Hotspurs and San Diego United. I attended Grossmont High School, playing there and earning first team all league honors before playing two years at San Diego City College. I decided to focus on my schooling and career after that point, but have had the fantastic opportunity to bring the beautiful game back into my life as a coach at Torrey Pines High School. My coaching philosophy is to instill a winning mindset, develop players technically and tactically, and cultivate respect and professionalism. I will strive to continue the successful history of the TPHS soccer program. Go Falcons!!!!
